Creating A Web Series: Empowering Writers to do their Own. From Concept to Completion.
7:30-9:30 p.m. – WGAW 2nd Floor. Eligible members*, no guests, RSVP: WebSeries. With explosion of web-based content and distribution platforms, writers have incredible opportunities to create and distribute their original scripted material direct to viewer. Come learn from/discuss with members (and industry colleagues) who have taken that first leap into the web. Examine the challenges and demands of production, budgets, devices and patterns. Be encouraged and empowered as entrepreneurs and first-time writer/producers. Producing video product becomes a tool in having Something to Show beyond sharing Something to Read! Speakers include Joelle Garfinkel (creator, Cam Girls) with David Slack (EP/director, Cam Girls), Diarra Kilpatrick (American Koko; The Mysteries of Laura), and Sam Miller (L.A. Beer); Richard Botto (Founder/CEO, Stage32.com); Michael Ajakwe, Jr. (Founder, LAWEBFEST). Event chair Bill Taub. WGAW Contracts Administrator Elisabeth Flack will be onsite to answer questions. Hosted by Writers Education and American Indian Writers committees. *Open to WGAW Associate, Current, Post Current, Emeritus, and Associate Caucus members in Active status, as well as WGAE Active members.
